Yesterday marked the end of the 18th edition of 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence which equally was a day set aside to commemorate Human Rights Day.
This only tells us that it is our inalienable right to live free from violence, especially women and girls. The end of this year’s 16-day campaign doesn’t mean the fight against GBV and VAWGs, in particular, has come to an end. Rather, it is a time to make new commitments and to take our messages and efforts to places we did not reach during these 16 days. It is a time to reflect on our achievements, challenges, shortcomings, and what worked to prevent VAWGs so that we can completely combat this ill that has eaten deep into our society. Together, we can bring about the change we all need.
