On April 28, the streets of Buea became more than roads and sidewalks — they became a platform for voices demanding justice, protection, and change.

Visionary Care Foundation (VCF) Cameroon joined other Civil Society Organizations alongside the Regional Delegation of Women’s Empowerment and the Family in an advocacy walk against gender-based violence, rape, child abuse, and feminicide.

This was not just another public event. It was a collective stand against the growing violence affecting women and children across Cameroon.

With banners raised high and voices united, participants carried one urgent message:

“Enough is enough!”

Enough of women and children losing their lives to violence.
Enough of silence that protects perpetrators.
Enough of stigma and blame directed at survivors instead of accountability for offenders.

Throughout the walk, one message echoed strongly:

“Survivors are not alone.”

Behind every statistic is a human story — a child robbed of safety, a woman living through trauma, a family carrying pain in silence. Too often, these stories remain hidden because of fear, shame, or lack of support.

By taking this message to the streets, participants called for:

For VCF Cameroon, the advocacy walk reflects the organization’s broader commitment to preventing violence through community engagement, youth empowerment, life skills education, and protection initiatives for women and girls.

The organization believes that awareness alone is not enough. Lasting change happens when communities speak up, institutions respond effectively, and survivors are supported rather than silenced.

As the walk concluded, one important question remained:

The streets spoke on April 28, will society listen?
